Cursaid: Walk for life/AIDS Walk: June 7th 2009

Okay guys I’m going to do it again this year. I have enrolled in the Cursaid Walk for life to raise money for people living in Poverty that have HIV/AIDS.

Now I’m not after people to sponsor me. Not yet anyway lol, I’m after people to join the walk. Last year 2100 people completed the walk. It is around London’s best sites and is an amazing day. The walk takes about 2 to 3 hours and you can join a group or walk by yourself. You can dress up or just go in your normal clothes.

But whatever you do I would like you to join me in help raise money for people living with HIV and AIDS around the world. This event is the largest of its kind in Europe. OMG Well if it happens it will be funny. I have 2 friends that are doing the walk with me, but the more the better I say. So far wear are going to be sluty nurses if I raise the money. I will kept updated on my blog as I go along. If you want to join us then let me know.

The Roman Catholic Church vs. HIV/AIDS Transmission in African better yet even the World.

Pope Benedict XVI said in a statement this week “he not only opposed the use of condoms in the fight against HIV/AIDS, but believed they could worsen the pandemic by encouraging promiscuity.” This has pissed off quite a few people, me being one. How can the head of the Roman Catholic Church make a statement like this when there is scientific evidence of effectiveness use of Condom’s for Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD’s) prevention. I have always had the understanding that Catholic boys don’t use condoms! HIV isn’t just a disease that Homosexual Males get. It has become more common in Heterosexual couples of all ages. When the facts show that one in four teenage girls in America has an STD and 13 to 24 year olds have some of the highest HIV infection rates as well, one can only wonder if this is because of lack of Sexuality Education.

We are talking about a disease where at the end of 2007 there was more than 32.9 Million reported cases in the world. And that number is set to climb in years to come. And to be honest the only way to stop the transmission of HIV is if everyone in the world is tested and then everyone that is positive is put on an island somewhere. Like that would happen. It just isn’t possible. I will say that in Africa, education is a good start to prevention. But that helps anywhere in the world. And when we lose this attitude that we don’t talk about HIV or AIDS, the better we will be. Children are meant to have a long and happy life. But being taken at such a young age by no fault of their own isn’t right. Youths are going to have sex. It’s a part of life. Society can’t stop it. But what we can do is give them the correct information to help understand the danger of having unprocted sex and the danger of HIV/AIDS and STD’s. The youth of today are the future and if we don’t explain to them the importance of about safe sex, the world will not have a future.

Being positive myself it has opened my eyes to the world. I never thought in this life time I would have HIV, and that it would of changed my life for the better. There are some people in world that can’t handle it and I have met a few people that can’t. But there are a lot of people that are better people for it, from all walks of life. We all go though the why me, what did I do wrong but that is normal. This is for me and not other people but as long as I don’t give this to anyone then I will be happy.

I know of a lot of people around the world where one is partner is positive and the other isn’t. I say good luck to them. But it really pisses me off when the people like the Pope and people that haven’t had to deal with this disease comment on it. I guess you could say it’s a special club, you can deal with anything, once you’re a member. It’s not a cool person’s club and if it ever becomes one I would be very pissed off. But as long as you have friends and family to help you though it you will be fine. There is no need to feel alone. Help is out there. And at the end of the day you will be a better person for it. Just remember that HIV doesn’t discriminate so why should society. It can happen to anyone: your friend, a family member, class mate, anyone you know! And you will not know how to act or what to say. My advice to you is to just be supportive and the rest will follow. I will say this it is their personal secret and it is up to them who they tell. Not you.

Over 1/3 of people that have HIV don’t know they do. Trust me it’s better to know then not to. So do yourself a favour and get tested today.

I guess when I started writing this blog I was a bit pissed off with the comments that Pope Benedict XVI made about HIV and AIDS, and still am!! I understand that he can’t comment on something that he knows fuck all about. The day he has the hiv then he can make comments on how he thinks we can fix the problem. Until then, he can just shut this month about a subject he knows sweet fuck all about. Peace out people stay safe. _AGJ
